(More customer reviews)I purchased this product as I couldn't find an all inclusive review and thought it was worth a shot after trying several other similar products. The hard drive enclosure is very cool, if you intend to use it via usb only, and it comes with excellent accessories (lined mesh carrying bag, cables, & magnetic screwd rive). The ability to use both esata and usb externally and to be able to plug the drive into a bay on your desktop computer is a great idea. The manufacturer claims that it is hot swappable but, fails to mention that only the usb port is. While the drive is inserted in rack, it works off of the esata port. Thus, before inserting it into the rack (or connecting it to your computer using an esata cable) you have to fully shut down your computer and restart it to get it to work. In addition, before you take it out you also have to fully shut down your computer. This is not due to a non-swappable controller card or motherboard, as I have another esata enclosure that is hot swappable with my equipment. Thus, if you are considering purchasing this for the ability to just plug it in via esata and use it, don't. Some other reviews note that the tray is flimsy, which it is; one noted that there are no mounting screws to secure the drive however, a standard 2.5" drive fits perfectly snug so no big deal; another noted that the hdd activity light doesn't flash when reading/writing which, is not true as it works perfectly. It is also lacking a 3.5 to 5.25 bay adapter, which other similar products include, so that if you don't have an empty 3.5 inch bay you will have to purchase one separately.
