(More customer reviews)This amp destroys anything I've owned before. I know what phenomenal bass is, and I know what kind of bass I've been after at home, and this amp was the final piece of the puzzle. The sub I had previous was a Klipsch 12" 450 watt sub, it did it's job, but the amp started to blow fuses and I couldn't figure out why, until I saw a cracked circuitboard, the vibration from the bass destroyed the internal amplifier...whatever. So I gutted the klipsch of its crappy factory 12" woofer and installed a 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch dual 4ohm voice coil sub-woofer, I just needed an amp to push it. I kept searching for a decent mono, sub-amp, I knew they were out there, just hard to find, then I came across this monster. I read the positive reviews and decided to go for it...friend, I cannot tell you how under-rated this amp is! I was so impressed with the depth this thing unleashed in my sub, that I knew I wouldn't be happy unless I got a second 12" sub, so I bought a 12" Alpine R dual 4 ohm voice coil sub and a ported box; and let me just say, I believe firmly that you need two subs to get the enveloping effect, I've been listening to subs for too long now, and although bass is supposed to be omni-directional, I can always tell in which corner of the room the sub is sitting. The only caution note I can give is, if your going to run 4ohm dual voice coil subs like me, don't expect to run the voice coils in parallel and pull a two ohm load from the amp, she will get mad at you and shut-down! This is a 4ohm load "max" amplifier, to combat this situation in my own setup, I ended up wiring the subs in a series pattern so that they are actually pulling an 8 ohm load, but make no mistake, this in no way lessons the raw brutallity that this amp unleashes. I just watched the movie "How To Train Your Dragon", great movie, the soundtrack provided great bass effects, and I thought I had heard the depth that my setup could chug out throughout this adventure, until they revealed, the HUGE dragon...HO-LY CRAP!

The Dayton Audio SA1000 is a freestanding, high-power subwoofer amplifier designed for the DIYer, installer, and systems integrator. This unique monaural subwoofer amplifier delivers the raw power of a pro-sound amp, but with the features and flexibility of a dedicated subwoofer amplifier. It can be configured for stacking with other audio components, and includes removable ears for mounting in standard audio racks (2RU). The patented tracking, down-converting power supply ensures headroom for instantaneous power needs and operates cool due to its high-efficiency design. A class AB output stage provides a clean and controlled output signal. From a performance standpoint, a low frequency parametric EQ allows you to boost or cut to custom-tailor the sound to suite the environment of the room. Sophisticated soft clip circuitry provides cleaner transient peaks while protecting your driver from over-excursion. Switchable subsonic filter removes the subsonic information from the signal to tighten the low end response of some subwoofer systems. Bass boost filters add to the low end response without using the built-in parametric EQ. This leaves the parametric EQ function to address room modes to cut out an excessively loud room resonance. The high-pass outputs provides the user the option to feed the signal back into their sound system or distributed audio system.
