(More customer reviews)Ok, this needs not much of an introduction. HP ML370 is the best selling server model in entire Proliant series. It is not the high end server, but has an advantage that can benefit (in fact already benefited) many of small organizations or small offices where the no. of users are less than hundred. This can be an ideal "My First Server" kind of a thing because of its user friendly installation process (incase if you don't know what it is, try IBM servers!) and its cost.
As I said, it can be the first serve in your office and with increased requirements; you can always upgrade it with additional processors, drives, and memory. However, this is good enough to take care of mailing platform for 100 users, file and print service or other applications like SMS, and Blackberry Enterprise Server application (I am actually using it for this), and other non business critical application, but should not be used for huge databases and web server applications. If you want to host an online website, or thinking of using it as an SQL or Oracle apps, this one is not for you.
Support is good, in case you need it. I just required it once in three years, during replacing 10K RPM drives with 15K RPM. If you already have or planning to have the tower version of this server, you should know that it can always be converted into Rack-Mount by ordering the Rack Conversion Kit for mere $450!
At $7000 (will include 1GB DDR II memory, 72X4 - 15K RPM HDD, and hot swappable power supply) is not a bad at all.
